Practical Bridesmaid Gifts
I know I’ve talked about giving bridesmaids tote bags as a little gift. It is great for them to use on the day of the wedding. But what about after the wedding? Not all bridesmaids will want to use the tote after that if it has your wedding info on it.
Here is an alternative. Make it something pretty, personalized, and simple. Your bridesmaids will always think of you when they use it and it is completely re-usable.
What do you think? Do you like the design? I just came up with it today! Talk to GT Screenprint
to see what kind of deal they’ll give you on it. I’ve already emailed the design to them. Add a comment September 7, 2010

Suggestions for the Father Daughter Dance
I found a website with many suggestions for the Father Daughter Dance. If you’re stuck and don’t know of any good songs, maybe this list will help you. Go to http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/father-daughter-dance-songs.
One of my favorites from the list was a song I had never heard before. It is called “Butterfly Fly Away”. You can listen to it here.

Sentimental Quilt
After my last post about the sentimental slide show as a gift for a wedding, I was thinking about a recent gift I received that really touched my heart. It could work as a wedding gift also.
Two of my friends made me a quilt. Each 12″ square was different. Each of them had different fabrics and designs representing special times I spent with each one of them. I was flooded with special memories as I looked at each different memory square. For instance, for my pre-bridal get away, my friends took me to Disneyland. Wee did a craft day. And we went to an English tea house. So one square had Mickey/Minnie fabric, tea cup fabric and sewing themed fabric. So special.
If you have a special friend getting married, keep this in mind. It will be a gift to be treasured by her and only her! If you are not a quilter yourself, maybe a friend could help you. There are also many people online that offer their quilting services (i.e. etsy.com).

Wedding Arranged Seating
I was just watching a funny movie that had a bride and a groom along with several family members trying to figure out the seating arrangement for their wedding reception. It was so complicated trying to make everyone happy. Not all family members get along. Not everyone knows everyone. So complicated!
Here’s a tool to help simplify at least part of the planning. I found it online. It allows you to drag and click to plan a seating arrangement and even the layout/floor plan for your reception.
Also, if you need help making table cards and printed seating plans, etsy is a great place to try. You can use their “Alchemy” feature to request items. People will send you bids to make what you need. You can request items that will coordinate well with your wedding. How pretty that will be!
Hope all is well for the brides planning the day of their life!

Bachelorette Party Outfits
A maid of honor I know came up with the concept for these shirts. They had a theme to their bachelorette party and wanted matching/coordinating shirts for everyone to wear to the party. Ben at GT Screenprint came up with these designs. The girls loved them! Now the MOH can’t wait to order custom shirts for the next bachelorette party she is attending.

Destination Weddings – The Cost
There are many advantages to destination weddings. I was just talking to a friend that lives in Texas. She got married in Costa Rica. She said she was looking first in Dallas to find a reasonable place to rent for the reception. Once she added catering, table rentals, etc. (you know the drill), the cost was way outside her budget. Then she priced it in Costa Rica. For the flowers, food, table and chair rentals, chair covers, wine (limited to 2 glasses per guest), she only spent $1700! I was blown away by that number. My flowers alone were half that. Keep in mind, that doesn’t include her gown.
Obviously, there are many things to take into consideration before planning a destination wedding. Sometimes they can get very expensive. Here is a helpful link for some reminders before deciding if a destination wedding is for you. http://www.destinationweddings.com/#news

Honeymoon Registry
Are you at the stage of registering? Many new couples already have the household items that are traditionally registered for. You can hope for cash and checks, especially if you need extra money for the honeymoon. A new thing that is catching on is to register for your honeymoon. You can register for things that you’ll be doing on your honeymoon like a nice romantic meal. Or perhaps it is for the helicopter tour that you are hoping to afford. Simply register for your honeymoon, add these types of things, and spread the word. It is politer than asking for money. It lets your friends and family choose what they want to pay for. They feel involved. Imagine showing them some amazing pictures you took from your helicopter tour that they paid for. They’ll feel so special!
There are many websites available to register your honeymoon. Try googling “register for honeymoon”. Google comes up with 4,980,000 search results so you’ll have plenty to look into.
Have fun planning your honeymoon!

Father Daughter Dance
I had a really hard time finding a song for the father/daughter dance at my wedding. Songs were boring or way over done. I was listening to a song I’ve had for a while and just now realized the lyrics might be good for this occassion. It is by Chrisette Michele and called “Your Joy.” Listen to it here.
If you have any other suggestions, please let us know. Share your insight with other brides.
